SPECIAL MEETING
August 4th, 2022

Attendance: Mayor Tom Eagles, Deputy Mayor Harding, Councillor DeWitt, Councillor Wright

1. Mayor called the meeting to order at @ 6:54 p.m.
Mayor Eagles thanked everyone for attending. His Worship stated he will be out of town for a while so Deputy Harding will step into his place.

3. New Business
a) Shower House
Mayor Eagles noted that as the village only received one tender for this work. It was noted that the village could do the work inhouse. The cost for the stall upgrade and electrical work would be approximate $4347.00. Additional costs would be the concrete ramp along with any miscellaneous costs. The village received $7800.00 for funding through the province.
b) Summer Fest
This year’s dates for Summer Fest will be July 14 – July 17. The committee will need the arena floor for Saturday July 16th along with the pavilion.
It was noted the fireworks remain from last year that weren’t used as SummerFest was cancelled. Mayor Eagles advised it would be a good contribution to Summer Fest for the village to provide the committee with the fireworks.
c) Reform – Naming
Mayor Eagles advised Terry Sisson and Councilor DeWitt will meet with students at Tobique Valley Middle High School to provide background on the naming of Entity 78. The naming of Entity 78 will be part of the newsletter.
d) Signing Officer
Mayor Eagles advised there should be an additional council member added to the signing officers for the village. His Worship stated its only logically to have Councillor DeWitt added as she is the council member who reports the finances of the village.

e) Health Care Worker Recruitment Package
CAO advised of the draft document Choosing a Lifestyle for You and Your Family – Opportunities at the Tobique Valley Community Health Centre
f) Gate Building
Mayor Eagles advised the welcome centre kitchen project is completed. His Worship noted he has invited Corrine Fitzherbert to do a story and has asked Danny Braun and Wayne Bennett to be present.
Mayor Eagles noted in moving forwarded the village will need to make alternate arrangements for the tourist bureau during the summer months. It was decided that a price be obtained for a
11 x 14 building.
g) Welcome Centre Lightening
It was decided by council that pricing be obtained for new lighting.
h) Bank Update
Mayor Eagles advised he has been in contact with Vinita Savani, Regional President, Atlantic Canada, RBC and stated councils and resident’s concerns and requested answers to questions of the closure of the bank. The email was redirected by Vinita Savani to Greg Sloan, Vice President for the Western RBC branch. The email received from Mr. Sloan stated a meeting requested prior to the Community Information Session is unable to occur on April 5th. However, they are more than are happy to revisit this with council after the session should questions remain at that time.
Mayor Eagles stated there has been no collaboration from RBC to council nor any communication until RBC had made the decision to close the Plaster Rock branch. A package is being worked on once it is completed it will be distributed to other financial institutions.

Mayor Eagles asked council to entertain a motion to go into closed session.
