1. Call to order at @ 7:00 p.m.
2. 2020 Budget
The clerk-manger advised that a couple of corrections were required to the general operating budget. These changes require a new motion of council for approval of the 2020 Budget as the changes affects the outcome of the tax rate. Patty advised these changes will reduce the rate. Patty advised the previous motion made by council in approving the budget during the December 18th special meeting will need to be rescinded.
MOTION: The motion of December 18th, 2019 number 2019-198 concerning the approval of the general operating budget be rescinded – Deputy Mayor Harding, Councillor Bucci – Motion Carried – 2020-01
MOTION: BE IT RESOLVED THAT: the council of the Municipality of Plaster Rock that $ 1,653,949 be the total budget for the municipality, that the sum of $1,090,358 be the warrant of the municipality for the ensuing year, and that the tax rate for the municipality be $1.7750. The council orders and directs the levying by the Minister of Environment and Local Government of said amount on real property liable to taxation under the Assessment Act within the Municipality of Plaster Rock. 3. Other Business
a) The village received an email from Horizon NB regarding a meeting being held within the province. The meeting is an interactive, in-person, consultation to help Horizon collect input that will inform the development of their new strategic plan. The meeting nearest to us is scheduled in Fredericton on Wednesday, January 29th from 1 – 3 p.m. at the St. Thomas University. Council asked that Chad Daigle be contacted to see if he plans on attending the meeting. Clerk-Manager noted she will advise council of what she finds out.
b) Councillor Bucci advised that only two individuals had applied for the 26 week position for the arena. These two individuals already were interviewed for the general laborer position. The individual that placed second in the previous interviews is working with John for the next two weeks on a probationary period.
c) Councillor Bucci advised during the last Pond Hockey meeting those in attendance were advised the work has started at the pavilion.
